A Liar's Autobiography

Feature Film —A Liar's AutobiographyI directed an 8 minute section of this animated, factually incorrect biography of Graham Arthur Chapman, one of the founding members of the comedy group Monty Python. The film was directed collaboratively between 15 animation studios and directors, resulting in a wild mix of styles to capture the different facets of the life of Graham Chapman a Cambridge medical student turned Monty Python who was openly gay and secretly alcoholic. In my section of the film Graham finds himself in the tax haven of LA in the 80s, living in a candy-coloured world of super stardom. In my first venture into stereoscopic 3D I decided to create the look of illuminated acetate on a multiplane lightbox with digital means. Credits Directed, Designed and Animated by Matthias Hoegg Additional Animation by Leo Bridle, Ross Pillips, Edda Rós, James Lancett, Sean Weston Produced by Beakus Executive Directors Bill Jones, Jeff Simpson, Ben Timlett Animation Producer: Justin Weyers Full cast and crew here A Liar's Autobiography Excerpt
