This film provides a subtle atmospheric backdrop to Steve Coogan's narration of "The Beautiful City" - A collection of short stories set in the dark side of ‘Madchester’ in the days of the Hacienda, a unredeveloped side creators Richard Sainsbury and Kieran O’Brien felt wasn’t represented by films such as Michael Winterbottom’s 24 Hour Party People.

99 John was shown in cinemas alongside Winterbottom’s latest film, Trishna. It tells the story of a mute man dealing drugs from an old ice cream van.

They serve as a quirky backdrop that support the emotional delivery of the interview-style VO’s in which Rightmove customers tell their personal story towards finding their happy homes. The objects were created in photoreal CG and set against a simple two colour background that grounds the objects in the 2D graphic world of Rightmove.
